Jerry Deen’s Celebrates Grand Opening

Equitable Wilmington CDFI Collaborative extends our congratulations to Jerry Deen’s restaurant on a successful ribbon cutting ceremony to launch their opening!  True Access Capital, as a member of Equitable Wilmington, provided financial support and technical assistance to bring the family style restaurant featuring high-quality service and food to uplift Wilmington’s Eastside neighborhood.

True Access Capital provided $75,000 in grants and micro loans to support Jerry Deen’s. The City of Wilmington provided a $25,000 grant. Jerry Deen’s will initially operate as a takeout and catering business with plans to add indoor dining as COVID restrictions are lifted.

“Arranging funding for a restaurant during a pandemic is a challenge,” said Charly Bass, Jerry Deen’s owner. “I am so grateful for the assistance I got from True Access Capital. They have helped me every step of the way. For a small business like mine, their expertise was critical for me to get to this point today.”

Vandell Hampton, Jr., True Access Capital CEO, said “We are gratified that we could be part of bringing a well-loved restaurant back to Wilmington and further contribute to the city’s resurgence.”
